To promote the Agro Food Sector, the State & Central Governments have introduced various Schemes that provide financial assistance to the eligible enterprises. These schemes include activities like setting up/expansion/modernization of food processing industries.

In the month of May 2017, Union Ministry for Food Processing (GoI) has announced the new central sector scheme called ‘Kisan Sampada Scheme’ for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters which includes the following components. The Union Ministry of Food Processing, GoI has allocated Rs.6,000 Crores for this scheme for the period of 2016-20.

  • Creation / Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities
  • Infrastructure for Agro-processing Clusters
  • Creation of Backward and Forward Linkages
  • Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure
  • Human Resources and Institutions


MCCIA receives several enquiries about various Government Schemes for Agro-Food Processing Sector. Considering this need, MCCIA will be organizing a Seminar on ‘Kisan Sampada Scheme’ for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters. The details of the seminar are as follows:

Contents: The salient features of the ‘Kisan Sampada Scheme’ will be covered along with likely financial assistance available from the MoFPI. Information will be also provided on Government Schemes for Agro and Food Processing Sector. Agri & Food Processing is one of the thrust areas of the Govt. of India. Several old schemes have been cancelled, revised and the new schemes have been introduced. There is a good scope for investment in the Agri-Food sector in the coming years. Medium of instruction will be English & Marathi.

Speaker: Mr. Surendra Joshi is the CMD, SMERA Project Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. He is a financial consultant with 37 years experience in the fields of Agriculture, Banking and Industrial Development etc. He was the Divisional Manager of SICOM Ltd., which is a Govt. of Maharashtra Industrial Development Bank. He is also a professional consultant for Agro & Food Processing Industries.
