This newly formed department actively engages in creating a local data-base for Pune. It is in charge of carrying out primary surveys to understand and research the patterns of industries in Pune, their numbers, investments, turnovers, employment figures etc. It is currently involved in creating a master data-base of all industries in Pune.

The Department also publishes shorter surveys and reports. It presents its findings to various Govt. bodies as policy inputs. The Department has recently published a study titled "New Manufacturing Capacities in Pune since 2001" and a ready reckoner for SMEs in Pune titled "Setting Up a Small/ Medium Enterprise in Pune".

As a service to the industry and members of the public, MCCIA ARBITRATION CELL has been launched at Pune. Arbitration is a speedier, flexible, efficient and cost effective method of settling commercial disputes. The business community has, from time to time, expressed concern about time consuming, tedious, and expensive settlement of dispute mechanism prevailing in the legal system and hence, the MCCIA's initiative in this regard.

MCCIA has set up excellent Panel of Arbitrators of great repute and rich experience who are retired judges, chairman of the banks, advocates, senior executives from administration, banking, commercial, management, etc. The process of empanelment is still on and the MCCIA looks forward of further enriching the Panel.

It is in the interest of those concerned to add/insert arbitration clause in the agreement stating that in case dispute arises pertaining to any of the clauses or terms of agreement, the same will be referred to MCCIA, for settlement.
