Food Processing Sector: Indian Food Processing industry is widely recognized as a 'Sunrise Industry'. India is the second largest producer of food in the world. According to the recent survey, the Indian food market is all set to be double by the year 2025. The rapid economic development, innovative technology and food production, growing consumerism and improved lifestyle are the main reasons behind this growth.


Health, Nutritional & Fortified Food Products: Due to fast life style, working women and housewives prefers healthy and nutritious food for their young children and elderly people at home. There is a large demand for Health, Nutritional and Food Products e.g. RTE-RTS Foods, Quick Snack Foods and so on. Some of the examples could be Sprouted Foods, Fruit Cheese, Custard Apple Pulp, Grapes Flakes, Diabetic Foods, Vitamin-B12 Fortified Food; Ready to Serve Drinks of Mango, Apple, Kokum, & Awala Lemon Concentrate, Pomegranate Juice; Ready to Cook Products like Gravies, Frozen Vegetables/Peas; Paste of Garlic, Ginger, Chili, Tamarind and Tomato; Cream & Butter prepared from Coconut, Peanut, Mango Kernel and Kokum. Soy Milk, Herbal Tea, Coffee & Flavored Tea; Processed Awala and Ber products like Candy and Laddu; Maharashtrian style Instant Soup Mixes; New types of Jam, Jelly, Sauces and Food Supplements, etc.

 

Considering the ample business scope for these Health Food products, MCCIA will be organizing a Seminar on ‘Opportunities in Health Food Products and Preparing a Project Profile’ mainly for Micro; Tiny & Small scale Food Processing Operators. Some of the above mentioned promising Health Food Products and how to prepare a business profile would be covered in the session. Medium of instruction will be English & Marathi. The details of the Seminar are as follows:

 

For Whom:  The program is mainly designed for Food Processing Entrepreneurs & Individuals who wish to expand or develop a new Food Business and prepare a good business project proposal for Financial Assistance from Banks etc. The session could be also suitable for Progressive Farmers and Farmers’ Groups, Farmers Producer Companies (FPCs/FPOs), Women Self Help Groups-SHGs, and other stakeholders e.g. Entrepreneurs in Food Processing, Students of Food Science, Food Traders, Food Service Providers, Caterers, Hotel & Restaurant Operators etc. Also, the women entrepreneurs, housewives can participate in the seminar.

 

Speaker: Mrs. Lalita Bora is a Certified Food Technologist from CFTRI, Mysore.  She is the Founder President of HEART Agro-Tech. Institute, Pune and organizes Entrepreneurship Development Training Programmes in Food Processing. She also extents hand holding support to unemployed youths to start their Food Processing Units.
